About Us
Luminescence is an up-and-coming literary magazine founded by two college students who are interested in facilitating engaging conversations via any creative means. Each of our issues, releasing approximately every three months, will be curated under a different theme. Updates will be provided via this website and our newsletter, which you can sign up for at the bottom of this page.
our first issue will be coming out this summer!
The inaugural issue of Luminescence will revolve around the broader topic of nature, and we are open to accepting any works that fall under that umbrella. However, more specifically, we are thinking of using this issue to consider the intrinsic interconnectedness between humans and nature, the cyclical nature of life that can be represented by the environment, and, along with that, themes of growth and rebirth.
Considering this is our first issue (hence the "101" in the title), themes of growth and freshness that are inherent in conversations about nature would be particularly on the nose, and we welcome that.
It must also be noted that, in a time in which we as a society are especially facing the repercussions of human/nature relationships–for example, the recent effects of climate change, exacerbated by the development of data centers around the world–it is especially crucial to reconnect with the Earth and consider our places in it.
